Galaxy S21 performance shames the iPhone 12 Pro Max? Not so fast

The difference would still be 200,000 AnTuTu points between the Samsung smartphone and the iPhone 12 Pro Max equipped with an A14 Bionic chip.

Except that when we take the AnTuTu score of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in our test, the difference disappears. Which is already a small victory in itself… It’s a fact: each year, the performance difference between the latest Android smartphones and the latest iPhones is reduced.

Apple has thus long remained far ahead of the competition by developing its own ARM chips. But this leadership could mark time with the Snapdragon 888 whose first smartphones should arrive on the market in the coming weeks. One of the very first smartphones to benefit from this new Qualcomm chip will be the Galaxy S21. In any case in North America and in a handful of other markets – since here, only Exynos variants that are traditionally a little less powerful should be offered to us.

YouTube channel Random Stuff 2 managed to get their hands on what looks like a Galaxy S21 +, and just uploaded a simultaneous AnTuTu test on Samsung’s upcoming smartphone and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, if these results are confirmed, it is indeed very promising. The Galaxy S21 + achieved an interstellar score of 643,461 points compared to only 441,227 points for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the most powerful currently on the market. That is, according to this test, more than 200,000 points of difference.

However, before taking out the champagne, we warn you right away. The score of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is much lower than that obtained in our test. Indeed, the score of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is rather around 642,522 points. That is to say an almost non-existent difference. However, if indeed the score of the S21 + is the right one, we can say that Qualcomm has finally managed to match the performance of the latest iPhones, long before a new model is released. The release of the iPhone 13 and their new chip (which should be called A15) is not expected for many months.
